Well, another year has passed us by here at Bunny Abandonware. Quite a few changes occurred.

Firstly we have moved into v4.0. The new wordpress setup is working awesomely. We are also fully moved to our new host – Huzzah to Hexie. You can send him lots of love emails via this website. Use our contact form to say thank you to him. He’s really our saviour! (Seriously, get that love mail flowing okay!)

Our second biggest change was getting Abandoned Places added to our collection. Now we have to great sites run by the fabulous people here. Well, I’m the only person, I guess that makes me fabulous? No?

It’s been, 9 years now? It’s been a long time anyway. I’ve seen a lot of sites go down the tubes over the years. Even ones which are still alive from the good old days are abandoned themselves, never to be updated (read: HOTU, Flashback etc). We’ll keep trucking Long live abandonware and our worthy cause.

Here’s to a most excellent 2008! *cheers*

This games is more than one mere game. The Christmas Lemmings series included four great short games by the dudes from Psygnosis.

The four games are all included in the one download from this site, for your pleasure. They are:

Xmas Lemmings (1991)

Xmas Lemmings (1992)

Christmas/Holiday Lemmings (1993)

Christmas/Holiday Lemmings (1994)

A bit about the games then eh? So, in true Lemming style you had to guide the lemmings from the entry to the exit. Overcoming all barriers using things like digging, steps, etc. Nominating lemmings to do the tasks.

The first two games had very few levels and were considered demo’s. The latter two were full games with 16 levels each. If I recall correctly the 1991 Xmas Lemmings had less levels than the 1992 Xmas Lemmings, because it included a couple of levels from the Oh No! More Lemmings game. You check that out and let me know.

All four games have the Christmas theme going on, from the little suits the lemmings wear to the halls decked out with bells and holly. They battle their way through ice and snow laying down their planks of wood true lemmings-style.

If you expected something different, then apart from visually and musically you will be let down. But if you’re into puzzle gaming, enjoyed the Lemmings games and want something fun for the festive season then by all means download these cool titles.

Oh, they are so cute with their little hats on, and as they are walking along they go boing, boing, boing, and the music is just brilliant!!

Oh I have been having so much fun playing this game for the last three or so days. It is a completely addictive, hardass piece of addictive and frustrating goodness! >_<

Ugh!

The aim? Simple, fight your way through 30 levels of mysterious mazes while being bombarded by little red men, skeletons, big red teddy bears (erm, iruno) and then multitudes of dragons. And then funny big dragons which look like vampires, so end up looking like some sort of emo-dragon-vampire. But you can’t be assured it’s going to cut itself, so just shoot the crap out of it.

You can shoot with nukes or bombs. You gather those while running around, they look like little scroll things. Also potions – remember you can use the spacebar for that as well as “P”. There are shortcut keys all over. Also doors will need unlocking so collect keys.

One thing I remembered – to my amazement – is the secrets. If you shoot certain parts of the catacomb walls you will reveal passage ways to lovely prizes, or portals to higher levels (heeey, saves time!). I guess I used to play this game way too much when I was younger.

I’m kind of gutted that if you die you have to start again. I’ve not managed to make it past the 18th level in my latest attempt (and did I mention I’ve been playing for three days?!). Don’t worry, I’ll get there soon…

Oh, hint: Great sounding game, POW POW POW oldschool.

A very fun point-and-click adventure game from the creators of CyberPunks and the Lara Croft series, released on Commodore Amiga and for MS DOS. The controls can be quite cumbersome, but the scope of the game and most excellent sound more than make up for it. I guess the one other downfall is if you can’t get the sound to work – you’re a bit screwed. There is no text alternative to the talking.

The game all starts with a game of baseball. Brad and his sister Jenny are playing a game of baseball, Brad goes to hit the homer and *zap*… wakes up hanging upside down in a cold, damp dungeon. A long way from the modern time he lives in. The reason? Well, a land full of wicked greedy witches who want to cast a rejuvination spell to make them eternally young and hot. The thing though is that the spell needs a male to complete it, and there are no boys in their dimension, hence the bewitched baseball field.

So I’m sure we agree, a very unique plot to base a game upon.

Anyhoo, where were we? Yes, hanging from a dungeon wall, upside down. This is where it all starts. It’s your job Brad to find your way out of the dungeon, and to the edge of the world and beyond. Battle with fiersome beasts like electric eels, vampires and the evil witch.

Like I said, the controls are hard to use. It takes a while to get used to them, as you need to do a combination of about four controls to get Brad to just give someone a worm. And sometimes you need to do the most bizarre things (I won’t give anything away or I’ll spoil it), which you would never consider doing – so you end up sitting there stuck for a while thinking of what to do next. Oh right, we WEAR the suntan lotion *rolleyes*.

But I did enjoy this game. The sounds were most excellent. Brad yelling for help was superb. The graphics are really good for an oldschool classic adventure game. All the attention to detail has really paid off, it’s just stunning.
Look at what they’ve made available:

Quake III Arena, Wolfenstein 3D, Ultimate DOOM, Final DOOM, DOOM II, QUAKE, QUAKE II, QUAKE II Mission Pack: The Reckoning, QUAKE II Mission Pack: Ground Zero, QUAKE III: Team Arena, HeXen, HeXen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel, Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, Spear of Destiny, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, QUAKE Mission Pack 2: Dissolution of Eternity, QUAKE Mission Pack 1: Scourge of Armagon, DOOM 3, HeXen II, DOOM 3 Resurrection of Evil, Master Levels for Doom II and Commander Keen (the whole set of 5)!

I really recommend you get your hands on these, they are 10% off for the next week. Plus we need to support companies who are supporting our older game titles.
Lunar Command is a newer version of Moonbase that can run on your modern PC. I had a dig around and really, I can see no difference except for I think maybe airlocks weren’t available in the other version, but I’m not sure. Plus,it now runs on computers properly and the menu’s are in English as opposed to gibberish.

Lunar Command like Moonbase was not very popular, yet is one of the best sim games I have ever played. You create a base on the moon and then mine minerals (or create electronics and material) which you sell back to earth. You have to get producing/mining goods to sell right away because NASA withdraw their support very early on in your mission.

I’ve added the manual as a link below which I got from HOTU. I figured I could redirect you over there to get it and you can, visit www.the-underdogs.info or you can save their bandwidth and download it here.

View my Moonbase review for further information about this game.

A very good shareware Commodore 64 Emulator. It was written as part of a master thesis! Wow, I wish you could do things like that at university here!

From the site:

CCS64 emulates briefly the following things of an old C64 system:

The main Commodore 64 console, with the keyboard and peripherals like joysticks, paddles and mouse. It emulates both the different systems sold in Europe as well as the USA.

Up to four 1541 disk-drives are emulated (which means that you use special files on your PC, as a replacement for the old 5 1/4 inch floppy disks)

The C2N cassette recorder is also emulated (which means the you use special files on your PC, as a replacement for the old magnetic tapes)

Many of the old cartridges (that means special hardware expansions for the C64, which were plugged in at the back of the computer) are also emulated.

There is a good site which supports this application, you can find all kinds of documentation, a form and a great quick start users guide. Visit CCS64 Knowledge Base (CCS64 KB)

Well, I have completed the data migration from BA3.0 to BA4.0. It only took 6 or so days… Unfortunately I haven’t been able to preserve some things such as the dates and times for when games were originally added, or comments were originally added. It was enough work to bring across everything else. I might work on that at a later date, but be assured that the old site is archived and will be saved forever.

The new BA 4.0 looks good. Everything behind the scenes now runs so much better using WordPress than my old BA control panel which … well you don’t want to see that. I wouldn’t even put it up so you could have a good laugh :p Thank you so much to my cousin Brett for his help configuring everything and helping a bit with the migration. Now BA will run smoother, updating will be easier and keeping all those games in check will be much more simple.

Thanks for all the games that people have contributed and the great reviews, all the work you’ve put in over the years has kept this site going and going. You all know who you are

Thanks for nothing to the assholes that leave comments picking apart things or demanding why I have a game up if I don’t have it for download. If you don’t like what I do with my site then f**k off. If you want to buy me a big server that can handle lots of traffic and downloads then feel free to contact me, if not then just be happy with what I do provide. To all those who do want some games that I don’t have here but are nice and polite then please contact me and I can arrange an ftp or get on IRC and send them over.

It’s been a long time coming, but thanks for being patient, and thanks for all the kind e-mails of praise and encouragement that I still get into my inbox. It’s the things like that which make it worth it. Well, the second reason is that, the first is because I love games, I especially love older games, and I want nothing more than to preserve them.

Let’s have a great 2007,
Michelle

A very cute little game in the theme of Dig-dug and Digger (a clone if you will).

But it’s so much more. It’s not just Bob the hamster! You can play two games within this one game, you can also be Vlad the Impaler.

As Bob it is your task to navigate around the screen and collect the carrots, avoiding the monsters. You can shoot the monsters with your drop of water. But be warned, your drop of water needs to replenish before you can shoot again.

Vlad on the other hand has to run around collecting coins to fund his army. You get to shoot knives!

The game is visually appealing for what it is. It uses real speaking to congratulate you when you finish a level. There are options where you can turn this off if it freaks you out! I enjoyed this game, it wasted a good couple of ours. Then a few more when I discovered a whole new game as Vlad.

Good fun times!

This feature can be useful when running old processor-dependent programs on new PCs, particularly to decrease the speed of games for ‘better results’, or when wishing to gain a better understanding of the sequences and functioning of programs, etc. Big diapason of braking coefficients (enough to fastest PCs), braking level control and switch on/off by hot-keys, control output trough PC speeker and screen corner. Full command line control. Slows down DOS and Windows programs. Versions for both interrupts are available – 08h and 70h.

From the nfo:

Super Copy Utility goes beyond what most copy software does, in terms of looking for data. If you tell it to, and you have the time, SCOPY will search for anything and everything that can possibly be read by a standard disk controller. It will take all of the data and make analysis files and a data file on your hard disk, that contain all the information necessary to copy the disk. This allows you to copy non-standard tracks and sectors. It copies disks by doing a sector by sector search for data. Since this process is relatively slow, you might wish to make a copy of the disk as best you can with a standard diskcopy, and then using SCOPY to copy over only the tracks that you got errors on, or suspect of being non-standard. Using analysis files you can even create your own copy-protection scheme, and make your own copy protected disks!
